A Piece for the Girls
The next piece I’m embarking on will be based on the character of Anne of
Green Gables. I’m doing this piece for my wife, Lola, who is a huge fan of the
books and the films featuring actress Megan Follows. I should have the piece
posted next week with a lovely background by Mike.

Learn about the Illustration Masters!
I’ve decided to gather information, art and bios about various illustrators and
put them in a section on this site. I have a great love for the industry and a
respect for my predecessors and peers who illustrate. I’ll be adding the
illustrators by alphabetical order, and you should see it posted soon. It will be
continually updated, so check back frequently.

Odyssey Illustrated Press
Mike and I are starting a new imprint through which to produce and sell our
various publications and works. It will be called Odyssey Illustrated Press.
The site will be up soon, and will be absorbing Whimsical Entertainment. This
press will function as a business and broaden the scope of Whimsical
Entertainment.

Spirit of ‘76
Mike and I just finished this piece. You can get a better look at it in the cartoon
portfolio section. We actually completed this in July, but just now added it to
the portfolio.

Project Tarzan Begins!
Here are a handful of illustrations I’ve completed for Tarzan. You can get a
better look at them under my Tarzan project section. I’m pleased with the
results. Let me know what you think. They will be more coming next week.

Streams of Silver is Finished!
Project Drizzt is complete. Mike once again awes me with his painting sorcery.
He’s going to be creating a new website shortly, and he’ll be documenting his
progress on various pieces. I’ll post a link as soon as his site is up. In the
meantime enjoy the new illustration. It’s posted in the cartoon portfolio
section.

Swamp Fox in Full Effect!
Here’s the final Swamp Fox piece that Mike and I finished. It’s in the Cartoon
section in my portfolio. Mike did a great job creating the Black Mingo Swamp.
This’ll give you an idea how the Adventures of the Swamp Fox graphic novels
will look.

9.23.08
Tarzan of the Apes!
Well, I’m getting started illustrating Edgar Rice Burroughs’ Tarzan of the Apes.
I’ll be showing my progress as it goes, so stay tuned. I’m reading the novel
and it is an absolutely fascinating work. I did not know that Tarzan taught
himself how to read at age 10. I also did not know that due to his academic
pursuit he discovered he was a man, and thus shaved to separate himself from
the apes. If you haven’t read this book, then I highly recommend you do. I’m
really geeked about this undertaking.

Swamp Fox in Amazing Technicolor!
I’m happy to announce that Swamp Fox: Birth of a Legend will be getting a re-
release! The new volume will be called Swamp Fox: The Collector’s Edition
and it will be in full color. It will make its debut in March at Pittsburgh Comicon
and will be accompanied by my scribbles and doodles for the graphic novel.
Stay tuned as I’ll be posting some of the pages for your enjoyment.

Phase 2 in process!
Mike gave me some in process coloring samples of Drizzt and the gang!
Looking good so far. Let us know what you think!

Lo, it is the Halfling and Dwarf!
Here’s the line drawings for Regis the Halfling and Bruenor the dwarf. These
drawings will conclude Phase 1. Now my good buddy Mike can commence on
to the coloring phase. I’ll post his results soon. Enjoy!

Wulfgar Rises!
Here’s the line drawing for Drizzt’s trusty barbarian friend, Wulfgar. I added
an Elmore painting from which I pulled influence.

9.14.08
Kid Beowulf is Released!
It’s out folks, Kid Beowulf and the Blood Bound Oath. This is the first in a
series of graphic novels drawn by my longtime friend Alexis Fajardo.

Lex is an amazing cartoonist and Kid B. is a must buy for comic fans. It is a
humorous retelling of the legend and it’s really generating some great buzz. Its
available through Amazon.com, so check it out!

Drizzt lives!
Here’s the finished line drawing for Drizzt and Gwenhyvar. I added a couple
iconic images to show my influences for your viewing pleasure.

Drizzt is a truly fun character to draw. I’m really enjoying this process. Let me
know what you all think.

9.10.08
Sara guides Drizzt to greatness!
Well Phase 1 is completed. I sketched out the characters as based on the
iconic designs of Cadwell and Brom. I added my usual Disneyesque flavor to
the designs.  My daughter, Sara, helped supervise the process to completion.
She’s a serious art critic and a relentless task master.

Streams of Silver
Well I’ve decided to focus on the story, Streams of Silver, for my Drizzt piece.
It will feature the Drow and his faithful companions, Gwenhyvar, Wulfgar,
Bruenor and Regis. Those familiar with the Icewind Dale trilogy will know
what I’m cooking up. Check back soon as I’ll be chronicling its progress. I’ll
leave you with this inspirational cover by Clyde Cadwell featuring these
characters in the meantime.

A New Cartoon Piece!
Hey everybody! I’m developing a new cartoon portfolio. The first piece I’m
inspired to develop for it is an illustration based on R.A. Salvador’s famous
Drow Elf, Drizzt Do’urden.

This is Forgotten Realms most iconic character hands down, and I’d love to do
a tribute piece based on him.

Our New Logo!
Here’s our logo for your viewing pleasure. We like this little guy and hope you
think so too. Tell us what you think.

A New Studio Name?
A lot of you are wondering why we changed our site’s name from Myers
Illustration to Grasshopper Studios. We wanted something fresh and not so
boring sounding is the primary reason, and secondly we wanted a cute logo. I
(Jon) had acquired the nickname Grasshopper by some fellow co-workers a
few years ago. The title was in reference to the character in Kung Fu. You
know the kid learning the ropes from the master concept. Anywhoo! The name
stuck and Lola and I thought it would be a cool name for our studio. Thus we
are Grasshopper Studios!

needed personal touch. I’ll be keeping things updated weekly, so feel free to

working on and giving you sneak peeks at what is on our drawing board.
Thank you for supporting us in our endeavors. You all are the reason we’re
excelling.
